Marathon #5: New York City Marathon, NY

4:18 finish, 18891/37899 place overall. Ideal running conditions with great support as usual for NYC. Generally sluggish throughout course due to inadequate mileage in training. Not my best day despite good conditions.

Marathon #4 (state #2): Catalina Marathon, CA

4:42 finish, 236/609 place overall. Hilly but very scenic course over mostly unpaved roads on Catalina Island. Minimal crowd support until the last mile in Avalon, but great scenery made up for it. Foggy early, but cleared up nicely as race went on allowing for great views. Started off strong, even on the hills, but hit “wall” on huge hill around mile 20 and slowed down considerably.

Marathon #2 (second round state #1): Long Island Marathon, East Meadow, NY

3:56 finish, 181/513 place overall. Almost perfect weather conditions aside from the lack of shade on the Wantagh Parkway making it feel warmer than it was. Course almost completely flat but extremely boring after half/full split at mile 10.

Marathon #1: New York City Marathon, NY

4:19 finish, 14373/36856 place overall. First marathon, so nothing to compare to, but crowd support was amazing - great for first marathon. Unseasonably warm and humid for early November – probably contributed to slowdown late in the race.
